RECOMMENDATION
4.4.4 Energy Absorbing Bumpers
- Today most vehicles can be purchased with rear and front impact bumpers at relatively little extra cost. If financial constraints allow for only one, specifying the rear bumper would be preferable. Impact bumpers will absorb a considerable amount of the force involved in low-speed rear collision. This ability to absorb an impact can result in less vehicle damage as well as potentially less personal injury.
